THE BRIEF

B&G were one of our first ever customers and, as demand for their products grew, the range of plastic injection moulded products we manufactured increased over 35 years.  However, when the 2008 recession hit, B&G immediately reviewed their stockholding strategy.  They asked us to help.

THE SOLUTION

We wanted to keep our highly valued customer and took a radical look at the way we worked together to achieve this.  We looked at the SLAs and the lead times for each product in their huge product range, splitting them into two categories; batch manufactured and one-off manufactured items.  A thorough review resulted in:

  • A reduction of the overall cost of all the products by 6% in the first year
  • An increase in the OTIF rate to 98%
  • Maintenance of the short lead times

B&G secured their trusted supplier relationship with us, reduced their costs by 6%, reduced their stockholding by 70% and reduced their overall spend on plastics.
